Monkey D. Luffy is the main character in the shonen juggernaut known as One Piece. He is destined to become the next King of The Pirates through sheer force and power of will. Along with his faithful crew, Luffy himself is a carefree and iconic symbol of the seas.Renowned for his famous straw hat, given to him by Shanks, he also possesses the power of the Gum-Gum Fruit (Gomu Gomu no Mi) which makes him a rubber man! Although this in itself isn't a strong Devil Fruit, Luffy's pure creativity and willpower make it an overpowering weapon.

He has a global reputation for being reckless and doing seemingly stupid things, but things alway work out in his favour. Most notable is him punching a World Noble and challenging the Shichibukai. After the two year time skip, Luffy is seen with a large X-shaped scar on his chest...an ever present memory from his battle with the navy admiral, Akainu during The Battle of Marineford. With an unfaltering comic relief, Luffy is a shonen fan favourite.
