Name: Rintarou Okabe (AKA Hououin Kyouma)

The self proclaimed mad-scientist himself and father of time travel is definitely a character to remember. Among his over-the-top scientific ramblings and his outwardly nerdy appearance, he is one of the most caring characters in the series Steins;Gate.

Okabe has a strong connection with Mayuri Shiina, having been friends since childhood, he will stop at nothing to make sure she remains safe. Once her grandmother died, Okabe was the only person that could cheer her up and stop her from spending hours at her grandmothers grave. But as the series progresses, the many time altering messages eventually lead to Mayuri's death. Okabe is forced to jump between world lines in a seemingly hopeless effort. He must achieve a 1% divergence to make sure she remains safe and the entire anime hinges on this.

Eccentric and melodramatic and just a couple of word used to describe the scientist and maybe even delusional, but don't think that he isn't super intelligent and full of knowledge too. Being the main protagonist behind the anime, he deservedly earns a mention on the characters list.
