Anime: Fullmetal Alchemist, Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood

Edward Elric, aka the Fullmetal Alchemist, is the main character of the famed anime series 'Fullmetal Alchemist'. Edward and his brother Alphonse, both broke the first law of alchemy after they attempted a human transmutation to bring their mother back to life. After this failed, Alphonse lost his body and Edward lost an arm and a leg. Quickly binding his brothers soul to a suit of armour, Edward managed to save at least that.

Edward is notably very small for his age and is the centre of jokes involving height but he is also the states youngest alchemist in history. At only 149cm tall, it is a definite weak point for him but it is noted later in the series, that his stunted growth may be caused by the heavy automail in place of his arm and leg. He has golden hair that's usually tied back. He frequently uses his power of alchemy to transform his automail into battle weapons. His small stature affords him greater speed and agility when compared to bigger enemies.

On the surface, Edward is usually immature, stubborn and slightly selfish. He is egotistical and pays little attention to authority figures above him. However, for those friends in his inner circle of trust, he is loving and compassionate towards.
