Anime: Gurren Lagann

Simon Jiha is the main protagonist of the second half of the anime Gurren Lagann. The story begins with him being a short, lonely and secluded boy, but slowly takes the shape of a masculine figure as the story progresses. He follows in the footsteps of his 'big bro', Kamina, and eventually grows to become a fine Gurren Lagann pilot and strong willed person. In the early part of the anime, Simon is relatively weak and is dependent on Kamina for guidance and strength.

Simon's most notable trait is his crazy blue hair, short stature and indigo eyes. In the first part of the series, he is underdeveloped and on the verge of adolescence. His features were boyish and body not matured, especially when compared to Yoko and Kamina. As the story developed and subsequent to the seven year time skip, Simon is revealed to have grown into quite the manly figure. Considerably taller and more muscular and with defined facial features, he presents a more Kamina-like image. He not only matured physically, but mentally too, far beyond his age of 21.

His battle hardened image was helped by the leadership and direction of Kamina. And had it not been for Kamina, Simon would still be the scared little boy stuck beneath the earth. After Kamina's death, Simon had lost his will to fight and live. His fighting spirit that Kamina and bestowed upon him, was slowly dying. However, he awoke to reality and forced himself to use his Big Bro's death as a source of aggressive Spiral Power. And this is revealed multiple times when it appears all hope is lost, and Simon releases a massive surge of Spiral Energy to overpower his foes.
