Lelouch vi Britannia is the protagonist of Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion. He is a young student who was previously exiled from the Britannia family after witnessing his mother's death at the hands of his father. Currently living with the surtname Lamperouge, his family name, Britannia, was cast aside after his exile. He and his sister Nunnally now reside at the Ashford Academy where he is a member of the student council.

Lelouch is a highly intelligent protagonist, much like Light Yagami from Death Note, and always remains calm and sophisticated in the toughest of situations. He is a relative genius. However, while at school, he conducts himself in a very social and likable manner, without the aristocratic traits.  One the battlefield, he maintains a strict command with very little thought towards the people he commands and rather considers it more like a chess game. He is tactical and strategic at all times and remains many moves ahead of his enemy.

Having gained the power of Geass, Lelouch is determined to overthrow the Britannian stranglehold on the world. He employs the Geass and Japanese allies to help him toward his goal. But he doesn't stop there, he wants the ultimate destruction of the Britannian Empire and death of his father.
